On a number of occasions the New Testament speaks of the symbolism of the marriage relationship in relationship to the church (Eph. A number of years of a go in preparation for a membership orientation that I was facilitating I came across a book entitled “Stop Dating the Church: Fall in love with the Family of God” by Joshua Harris.It is an excellent little book that discussed the power of church membership and the value that can be added to one’s life when one joins and fully connects to a local church.“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.One of the profound illustrations of the church is found in the marriage relationship.
